IAEA SSAC Advisory Service Missions (ISSAS)

  1. An ISSAS Mission is one element among several ones with regard to the support delivered to Member States for establishing and maintaining an effective SSAC.
  2. The main output of an ISSAS Mission is a report for the Member State, including main findings and a set of recommendations. This report can be considered as having a twofold purpose:
For the Agency, having a clear understanding of the reasons of the difficulties met by the Member State and how to address these issues in a global action using every available Agency’s resource:
For the Member State, having an Agency-blessed reference as leverage towards national decision makers.
  3. ISSAS Mission can also be considered as an important tool for QMS and KM relating to Safeguards, as underlined, inter alia, by SAGSI: “ISSAS Mission is also a good mechanism to promote cooperation and to identify and maintain good practices”.
